The Current Reading List For This Bibliophile

 In Blog

It doesn’t take long to figure out I’m an avid reader. Here’s the current list of stuff saved on my Victor Reader Stream, a digital audio book player and so much more. For those who don’t use a Victor Stream, just think of this like the stack of books next to you’re bed that you’re getting ready to read:

  1. A Short Story Writer’s Companion by Tom Bailey
  2. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
  3. The Power by Rhonda Byrne
  4. 10 Secrets For Success and Inner Peace by Dr. Wayne Dyer
  5. The Art of Loving by Erich Fromme
  6. According To The Rolling Stones by Mick Jagger
  7. Marriage Rules: A Manual For the Married and the Coupled up by Harriett Lerner
  8. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
  9. House Rules by Jodi Picoult
  10. The Name Of The Wind: book 1 by Patrick Rothfuss
  11. The Name of the Wind: book 2 by Patrick Rothfuss
  12. How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carngie

Now, why do I share this list with you? To show just how eclectic my reading pleasures are? Nope!

If you look through this list, some of the books are purely for pleasure. Stuff like the Mick Jagger book and Lonesome Dove. For the Stones, I’m a fan. For McMurtry, it’s just considered a classic. The rest? I feel like I need the information contained within.

You’ll notice a bunch of personal development/self help type books. I need this information. Seriously need it. Yes, for this guy who goes around the country encouraging audiences to change the things they can, I, too, need some inspiration, education, motivation and inspiration.

Yet, no matter how many books one reads on personal development, they don’t do jack unless the reader does one thing: intentionally applies the info to his/her life.

I try to do this. Really, really try. To the point of reading each personal development book two, maybe three times. I really want this information to sink into my heart, mind, soul and brain.

Intentionality. It’s necessary if we want to improve our lives.

You’ll really like House Rules. It’s chock full of forensic and Asperger’s facts. Jacob Hunt is one of my favorite characters from fiction!
